Ai Tokiwa (常盤 愛 Tokiwa Ai) is a student and member of Misuzu Daimon's Angels and one of the antagonist in the manga of Great Teacher Onizuka.
History[]
She exploited Tadaaki Kusano's crush on her to frame him for stealing her urine, and pretended to be the victim when she was found surrounded by bleeding, unconscious boys. When Yoshito Kikuchi confronted her about her deception, she beat him up. His karate was no match for her Tae Kwon Do, and she guessed that he would be too embarrassed to admit a girl had beaten him.
She blackmailed Azusa Fuyutsuki after she removed Fuyutsuki's underwear to humiliate her, before Onizuka saved Fuyutsuki by showing Ai's underwear. Later on she faced her rapists who tracked her down. She tried fight them but she couldn't because of her trauma. Onizuka helped her beat them and they were sent to jail right after. During the fight, she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown in the bathroom when Kikuchi confronted her. His new martial arts training with Mayu Wakui allowed him to beat her, and he tried to talk her out of her mindset where she always needed to be strong out of fear. She demanded that he prove he's a trustworthy man by cutting off his penis. Overhearing this, Onizuka walked in and stabbed himself in the groin with a knife. Ai cries out that she was only kidding, at which point Onizuka reveals a box of tomato juice in his pants.
Onizuka sees through her façade – Ai is but a simple, frightened little girl, who only uses violence to deal, rather than cry it out. Realizing the truth, she finally breaks down and lets out her feelings. Onizuka forces an embrace between her and Kikuchi to make up and give her a shoulder to cry on. Though the two don't share mutual feelings for one another, it is hinted there is some form of affection between them.
After this she quits the Angels and comes over to Onizuka's side. At the end, Sho Shibuya snaps and beats up all the other Angels before heading off to kill Onizuka, Ai uses the last of her strength to call Ms. Daimon and warn her what happened. She is accompanied by Kikuchi to the hospital .

Etymology[]
